What am I looking to achieve from therapy?

For psychotherapy to be a meaningful endeavour, right fit and collaboration between the therapist and you become key aspects for actualizing the therapeutic goals that you want to achieve from this process. Finding that fit and setting goals can be harder when you are feeling overwhelmed and internet spaces are flooded with information. We have attempted to simplify various psycho-therapeutic modalities for adults to help you come closer to making an informed decision. These are multiple, often overlapping directions to choose from.

1. When looking for help with very specifically identifiable concerns, harnessing your present resources and improving your strengths to find solutions, then can consider – Solution focused Therapy.

2. When looking towards managing your problems by changing self defeating and unhelpful core thoughts/beliefs  then you can look towards – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

3. When looking towards the exploration of past trajectories and intrapsychic world then you can consider – Depth and Insight oriented Psychotherapy.

4. When looking for help with concerns related to relational difficulties within your family and couple dynamics then you can consider – Family systems therapy.

5. When you or your therapist foresees being helped through a combination of all these modalities presented above then you can consider- Eclectic and Integrative Psychotherapy.

In times of progressive distress and crisis that makes you dysfunctional in everyday activities, a combination of medication and therapy is recommended.
